Spotlight on Brighton

Whether you’re looking for fun things to do, cultural inspiration or some quality relaxation, Brighton is a perfect place for all those things, largely thanks to its ideal location sandwiched between the scenic Sussex countryside and the sea.

Beauty and the Beach

Brighton Beach

Brighton's beaches are among the best known and most popular seaside areas in England, along with the famous seafront, marina and Brighton Pier. The beach has an excellent rating by the Marine Conservation Society making it an ideal place to go for the whole family. To make most of the occasion, head east from Brighton Palace Pier to the Yellowave Beach Sports centre which is open all year round and if a sport can be played on the beach then it can be played at Yellowave! From volleyball to beach tennis!

Vast Vineyards

Brighton is a short bus ride from the stunning Sussex countryside and the South Downs National Park which provides ideal conditions for growing vines and making English wine. Visiting vineyards makes for a great day out as they are only moments from the centre, but the tranquil settings make for a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. And you get to try some delicious drinks. It's not all about wine though as more and more people are appreciating real ale and craft beers. The biggest local brewer is Harvey's based in Lewes!

Attractive Attractions

For those who enjoy the performing arts, you can’t miss the Royal Pavilion. The Royal Pavilion is one of Brighton’s most famous landmarks and mixes Regency grandeur with Indian architecture and Chinese inspired interiors. Art lovers are well catered to as well! You can choose from state-of-the-art exhibitions at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery, film galleries at Hove Museum, a look back at the city's origins as a sleepy fishing village at the Brighton Fishing Museum and natural history at the Booth Museum.

Fancy Food

Brighton Food

Brighton has no shortage of great places to eat and drink. Try creative seafood, Naples-style pizza or inventive Indian thalis. For something exotic head on over to The Chili Pickle, a modern Indian brasserie with a bright, contemporary interior that’s perfect for families with adventurous palates. For something more traditional, pop down to the Ginger Pig, a large bustling gastropub just off the seafront in Hove, serving a mix of pub classics like pies, steaks and burgers, plus modern inventive dishes such as seabass fillet with gnocchi Parisienne and saffron and miso sauce.

Brighton makes the perfect seaside retirement location, with fantastic food and an array of activities for you to choose from. Get in touch with the Retirement Homesearch team now so they can help you find your ideal retirement home!
