Independent Living - The Services and
Facilities
Every development we have in our portfolio is different, but
below are a few guidelines on the kind of facilities and benefits
you might expect at a typical Retirement Development.
Development Manager
The majority of sites have a Development Manager who is on duty
from 9 to 5pm Monday to Friday to ensure that all services and
facilities at the Development run smoothly; they also oversee the
well-being of residents and assist them with any queries they might
have regarding the scheme.
Emergency Call System
All developments have a Careline Emergency Call System in place,
providing round-the-clock security and peace of mind for Residents.
Should something unforeseen happen, or an emergency arise, they
need only activate the nearest emergency call point in their home,
or press the button on the mobile alarm worn on their person (as
pendant or watchstrap) to be connected to either the Development
Manager (during office hours) or Careline, where a highly-trained
operator will deal with the situation in hand.
Residents' Lounge
Most developments will have a communal lounge for the benefit of
Residents. The lounge provides a good focus for social activity and
is often used by Residents for evening entertainment and social
gatherings such as the weekly coffee morning.
Communal Laundry
Most Developments will have a communal laundry room containing
washing machines and dryers for the use of residents; some
Guest Room
Guest rooms usually have twin beds and an en-suite bathroom,
enabling Residents to invite family and friends to stay at their
Development at very reasonable rates, subject of course to
availability. Many Residents use this facility at other
Peverel-managed schemes in the UK, as they are an ideal, low cost
place to stay when on holiday or visiting friends and
relatives.
Lift
All lifts are regularly maintained and are linked through to a
Careline system in case of emergencies.
Maintained Gardens
Gardens are maintained on a regular basis by approved
contractors.
Car Parking
All developments have car parking spaces which are usually run
on a daily ‘first-come, first-served’ basis.
Social Activities
Many residents form social committees to organise activities and
entertainment for the benefit of other residents. Typical
activities include theatre outings, guest speakers and
entertainers, bridge afternoons, coffee mornings.
Independent Living Developments in the form of
apartments, cottages and bungalows represent the bulk of the
Retirement Homesearch nationwide portfolio.
